Community Service Project: Saturday , October 23, 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM - Ronald McDonald House Community Service Project Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides a home-away-from-home for children and their families while the child is treated for
serious, often life-threatening illnesses at San Diego hospitals. Seven days a week, 365 days a year, they provide lodging to family members of sick children who otherwise might sleep in hospital waiting rooms, in their car or drive long distances home and back. Last year, Ronald McDonald House provided housing for 43 families per month, and offered a reprieve during the day for 1,200 families per month. With a new 47-bedroom House, they expect to serve 20,000 families per year by providing bedrooms and a Family Care Center to those who need it. We invite DRI members to spend an afternoon helping others by volunteering your time at Ronald McDonald House and show that DRI Cares! For this project, DRI will provide roundtrip transportation to the Ronald McDonald House from the hotel. Projects will range from gardening, painting, cooking, cleaning and visiting with the kids and families. Volunteers should indicate their participation by notation in the on the online registration form. Food and beverage will not be provided.
